THESE JACKBOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKING

ID Card Inspectorate staff bulletin report 6th February 2015

We are looking for members who wish to take up walking and rambling. It has come to our attention that the hobby of exploring moorland footpaths is on the increase, as people do not expect to encounter ID Card Inspectors in the open English Countryside. We will therefore be sending staff out into the great outdoors on routes like The Pennine Way, and to parkland areas like Daisy Nook. Naturally, any ramblers and casual walkers you encounter during such a hike must be expected to produce their ID cards on request, just as they would if you encountered them anywhere else.

It is perhaps an inevitable consequence of inner city and suburban surveillance that many people seek the freedom of the hills and Britain’s lovely waterway footpaths. In doing so however, they do not realise the dangers that they subject themselves too. Many miscreants, felons, conspirators and terrorists, will also make use of the open natural spaces in our fair cities to plot and scheme against us all safe in the knowledge that they are safe from the roving eye of justice. From now on however, the middle of nowhere will be watched as closely as the football grounds and street markets, pubs and transportation systems. There is nowhere now for the unscrupulous to hide. On with your boots, my fellow inspectors – let us take to the hills.

PS – we would also like to hear from any inspectors with experience of caving and pot holing.
